Amber Allison, PhD, received her doctorate in Biological and Developmental Psychology from the University of New Orleans in 2013. She then completed a two-year post-doctoral internship at a private forensic psychology practice, while also earning certification as a Life Care Planner from the University of Florida. She has been a licensed psychologist in Louisiana since 2016. 

In her clinical practice, Dr. Allison specializes in the assessment, evaluation, and treatment of individuals who are coping with a variety of medical and psychological problems including: chronic pain, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, dementia, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression. Dr. Allison’s education, training, and experience in Biological and Developmental Psychology provide her with unique insight into the multi-faceted nature of chronic mental and physical disabilities, as she understands the biological correlates as well as the psychological and behavioral factors that influence coping strategies and recovery trajectories. 

Dr. Allison has also published research in peer-reviewed journals, presented research at conferences nation-wide, and authored textbook chapters. She is currently involved in several research endeavors and teaches Clinical Research at The University of Holy Cross in New Orleans. She enjoys thinking creatively and strategically to design novel but reliable research studies intended to answer specific questions about human behavior. Through research, Dr. Allison hopes to provide insight and understanding as to what environmental, personality, and biological factors influence our decisions relating to health and wellness, with the goal of providing a framework for motivating individuals to prioritize and optimize their physical and mental health.
